Cutten home damaged in fire

CUTTEN, Ca (KIEM)-Two alert residents who heard an alarm going off at a Cutten residence resulted in quick action by Humboldt Bay Fire.

Fire fighters responded to the 2000 block of Amy Court at around 2:30 pm Friday. When they arrived on scene, smoke was coming from the attic of the home. Crews made entry and quickly brought the fire under control.

Investigators say damage is estimated at $50,000 and believe the cause was an electrical unit that caught fire and spread to a couch.

The home owners were not home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
