California Gas Tax Goes into Effect, and North Coast Residents feel the Pain at the Pump

HUMBOLDT COUNTY (KIEM) – If you’re planning to fill up your car with gas today, you can expect to pay more at the pump.

The new tax increases gas by almost six cents per gallon starting.

It’s part of a bill signed by former Governor Jerry Brown back in 2017. The money from these increased prices would go towards infrastructure. Such as fixing roads and bridges, along with developing more bicycle and pedestrian projects.

Eureka Resident Ted Reed says, he’s not a fan of these increased prices and uses his bike more than his car.
