Burn Permits Suspended for areas within Humboldt County, Del Norte, and Western Trinity.

Humboldt County, Ca., (KIEM) As of Monday, July 22 all Burn Permits for areas within the county and surrounding areas are suspended.

According to Cal Fire due to extreme weather and dry vegetation permit suspension is effective to ensure safety.

The suspension is active for area lands within the counties of Humboldt, Del Norte, and Western Trinity.

Cal Fire said campfires within organized campgrounds or on private property that are otherwise permitted will be allowed if the campfire is maintained in such a manner as to prevent its spread to the wild land.

“It’s all residential outdoor burning of landscape materials including leaves and sticks within the state responsibility area of Humboldt, Del Norte, and Western Trinity counties,” said Cal Fire’s Jennifer Renner. “This does not include the incorporated areas of the Ferndale and the Loleta Valley. Where there, you do still need an Air Quality Permit, as well as making contact with your local fire department before you burn.”

The burn permit suspension shall remain in effect until further notice. For more information visit readyforwildfire.org
