Woman Arrested for Assault After Standoff with Eureka Police

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — Eureka Police arrest a woman after she assaulted her mother and barricaded herself inside of a residence. Right before 10 am on Friday, EPD received reports of a possible assault call on the 500 block of West Harris Street.

34-year-old Sarah Wentworth assaulted her mother with a metal flashlight then fled into a residence and locked the doors. Attempts at negotiating were made for over 2 hours, but police were forced to serve search and arrest warrants around 12:30 pm.

They took Wentworth into custody without incident. A rifle was located and seized by officers. Wentworth was booked on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on $35,000 bail.
