Long Valley Fire in California, Nevada at 400 Acres

California, Nevada (KIEM) Multiple ground and air crews are battling a fire in an area of California and Nevada.

The Long Valley Fire burning north of Reno, Nevada is currently at 400 acres and 0 percent contained, according to the Bureau of Land Management.

According to reports, the Long Valley Fire started Saturday afternoon north of Reno along Highway 395 about two miles south of the north end of Red Rock Road. The fire then spread to the northeast toward Red Rock Road.

Officials said structure protection and some evacuations are underway.

As of Saturday evening, one home and multiple outbuildings have burned.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said, Search and Rescue Volunteers are assisting with voluntary evacuations. An evacuation center has been set up at Cold Springs Middle School in Reno, Nevada for people and small animals.
