Community groups to celebrate artists of new murals on the Samoa Peninsula

Samoa, Ca., (KIEM) Community groups will celebrate artist of the new murals on the Samoa Peninsula with an artist reception.

Over the past few months, nine new murals have been painted on the Samoa Peninsula by nine local artists.

The murals are painted on concrete water vaults located throughout Manila, Samoa, and Fairhaven.

The Peninsula Community Collaborative along with the Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District teamed up and choose the selected artist out of over 30 applicants.

The chairman for the water district said the vaults went from being regularly tagged with obscenities to exciting and beautiful public art.

The Artist’s Reception and Art Show will be on Saturday, September 7 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Friends of the Dunes Humboldt Coastal Nature Center.
