Food for People Provides Backpacks Filled with Meals and Snacks for Kids Back in School

HUMBOLDT COUNTY (KIEM) – With school back in session, the food bank is helping kids stay fed and full.

Food for People says, more than 60% of Humboldt County students are eligible for free or reduced price lunches. The Backpacks for Kids program partners with schools across the North Coast to provide students with meals.

The bags come with, kid-friendly meals, snacks, juices, and even activities that they can play with.

Food for People partners schools from Eureka, Arcata, Fortuna, Hoopa, and even as far as Orick.

Last year, Food for people served close to 600 kids. Backpacks for Kids runs throughout the whole school year. The first set of food bags will distributed on the first week of October
