Fortuna Police Department Awarded Grant from Alcoholic Beverage Control

FORTUNA, Ca. (KIEM) — The Fortuna Police Department was awarded a $24,000 grant from the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC).

The grant is awarded after FPD helped ABC agents crack down on selling alcohol to minors.

They conducted a sting operation where minors, under the supervision of officers, attempted to buy alcohol at 10 retailers in the Eel River Valley.

Officers cited two clerks at two locations for selling alcohol to a minor.

The money from the grant will be used to reduce the number of alcohol sales to minors and other crimes like the sale and possession of illegal drugs.
