Law, fire, and emergency officials attend Active Threat Integrated Response Course

Blue Lake, Ca., (KIEM) Arcata Police and several law agencies throughout the county gain new skills at the Active Threat Integrated Response Course.

APD, HCSO, Blue Lake Tribal Police, Fortuna PD, and fire officials took part in this weeks learning experience for the benefit of the community.

The course was not open to the public but law and emergency personnel had the opportunity to obtain skills and knowledge that in case of an emergency will keep residents safe.

Brian Hoffman of APD says besides building work relationships with neighboring officials he learned to respond quickly in a worst-case scenario.

“It’s communication. We were able to really increase our interoperability and really create clear communication and planning with fire and medical. I hope we don’t have a critical incident, but if we do, we’re better prepared.”

The active threat course was hosted by The Blue Lake Rancheria Office of Emergency Services.
