Double Fatality Traffic Collision in Del Norte County

DEL NORTE COUNTY (KIEM)- Two men are dead after a solo traffic collision in Del Norte County.

At around 8:40 Tuesday morning, Caltrans notified the California Highway Patrol that a Mazda pickup went off of Highway 199 East of Gasquet.

CHP said the truck was traveling Northbound and for unknown reasons went off the roadway, down a 60 foot embankment and struck a tree.

The identities of the victims have not been released and the cause remains under investigation.
