Armed and Dangerous Suspect Evades Arrest

REDWAY, Ca. (KIEM) – Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man after he escaped a pursuit yesterday.

A sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop around 3:30 p.m. near Briceland Rd. in Redway. Robert Joseph Cullen failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.

Cullen struck multiple patrol vehicles as he evaded officers along Elk Ridge and Seely Creek roads.

Unsafe road conditions prevented the deputies to continue the pursuit and lost sight of the vehicle.

California Highway Patrol Officers, a CHP Helicopter, and the HCSO K9 Unit were deployed in the search for Cullen.

Deputies found Cullen’s vehicle in heavy brush around 6 p.m. in the Seely Creek area. An extensive search was conducted, but Cullen was not found.

Deputies recovered multiple firearms, ammunition, body armor, a large amount of cash, approximately 148 grams of heroin, 1 lb of methamphetamine, 23 lbs of marijuana and prescription drugs.

Cullen is described as a white male, 30 years old, approximately 6’2″, 150 lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Humboldt County Sheriff’s believe Cullen is armed and dangerous.
