Holiday Decor Fire Dangers

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM)– Christmas may be over, but there are still some prominent fire dangers regarding holiday decor.

Humboldt Bay Fire wants to remind the community to make sure to water your Christmas tree everyday while it is still inside of your house.

A dry tree can be very dangerous because it can catch on fire easily

The last thing HBF wants to do is water your tree because you didn’t.

Also, make sure to throw away any light strands with frayed or pinched wires. And turn off holidays lights before going to bed or leaving your house.

Lighting equipment was involved in forty-four percent of home tree fires, and in twenty-five percent, a heat source such as a candle, was too close to the tree.
