3 Sustain major injuries in Del Norte County crash

DEL NORTE, Ca. (KIEM) – Three people sustained major injuries in a head-on collision in northeastern Del Norte County.

At around 8:30 Monday night, 46-year-old Kostadin Biserinkov of Cave Junction, Oregon was driving his Honda car northbound on US 199 east of Patrick’s Creek. The CHP said for unknown reasons, he went into the southbound lane and collided with a Toyota truck driven by 25-year-old Pa Hoya of Crescent City. She and her passenger, 21-year-old Mai Ka Ying Thao and Biserinkov, all sustained major injuries.

The Gasquet Volunteer Fire Department said the Jaws of Life was used to free one of the victims. Del Norte ambulance transported the victims to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City for treatment.
