California Governor To Aid Homeless Housing Projects

SACRAMENTO, Ca. (KIEM) – State-owned properties may be used to house the homeless in California.

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced today that cities and counties can submit housing and shelter proposals for 286 state-owned properties.

This decision came after the governor met with officials from California cities that faced high levels of homelessness.

The state is offering the local governments one dollar leases on state-owned property, and are able to use the state emergency homeless aid to build, and local governments can enroll in the program immediately.
