Attempted Murder Under Investigation In Arcata

ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM) – Three men are in custody after an attempted murder in Arcata. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a travel trailer that was parked at the intersection of Janes Road and Foster Avenue just before 7 Sunday morning.

Arcata police officers assisted the deputies and found a 45 year-old man with multiple stab wounds.

A.P.D. detained three suspects who had allegedly confronted the victim outside the trailer and assaulted the victim with lumber, a metal pipe, and pepper spray. One of the suspects stabbed the victim with a knife.

39 year-old Monty Sparks and 42 year-old Vincent Corona were arrested for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, illegal use of tear gas, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

55 year-old Elzie Holbrooks was arrested and taken to the hospital for unrelated medical treatment. When he is released he will be taken to jail on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, illegal use of tear gas, conspiracy to commit a crime, and kidnapping.

The victim remains in stable condition.
