Satellites Monitor Illegal Cannabis Grows

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – Laws against illegal cannabis grows in Humboldt County will now be enforced by new state-of-the-art technology.

The County Planning and Building Department will now be using satellites to observe large expanses of Humboldt from thousands of feet in the air.

The use of the satellites will also aid in observation of the negative environmental impacts of the illegal grows on water quality and wildlife.

Humboldt County staff members believe that they are the first people in the country to use satellite technology exclusively to monitor cannabis operations.
