City Council Member Susan Ornelas Resigns

ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM)- Arcata City Council member Susan Ornelas resigns just seven months before the end of her term.

According to Arcata City Manager Karen Diemer, Ornelas is the Economic Development Planner for Blue Lake and would not be eligible for the California Public Employee Retirement System working both jobs.

The council plans to appoint someone for the remainder of her term. Ornelas has served on the council for over ten years and  still plans to work as a private citizen for Arcata.
