The 2020 Rhododendron Parade is Officially Cancelled

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM)- There will be no Rhododendron parade in Eureka this year because of the Corona Virus.

This long standing tradition is hosted by the Old Town Rotary Club. For the last 54 years parade floats are decorated with rhody’s, and marching bands play as residents line the streets.

The Rotary Club is being socially responsible in following the directive of the CDC and hopes to help decrease the spread of the virus in the area by cancelling the event this year.

With the parade costing ten thousand dollars, all proceeds will go back to the 15 sponsors that donated to the event.

The parade plans on making its return next year.
