NO! CHP Will Not Pull You Over for No Reason During Shelter in Place

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — There have been some rumors circulating online about how California Highway Patrol is enforcing the current shelter in place order.

There are claims making the rounds on social media that c-h-p officers are stopping people and asking them where they are going. We asked CHP if there was any truth to this. Their response? Absolutely not. It’s a violation of the law to contact an individual without a reason, and CHP will never stop someone for no reason.

CHP is making changes when it comes to keeping its officers and the community they serve safe. Officers are taking extra steps to keep all equipment as sanitary as possible, and practicing social distancing whenever possible.

CHP wants the public to know that during the shelter in place order it’s still business as usual.
