EUREKA, Ca (KIEM) – Local Rotary clubs are joining forces with Food for People in an effort to raise funds to provide much needed food distributions to Humboldt County residents.

Southwest Eureka Rotarian and Rainbow Self-Storage owner Ron Harris challenged his fellow club members to match a $5,000 donation that would help contribute to a local organization in need of support during this time. For them the decision was easy, food for people.

With contributions from multiple Rotary clubs and the community, Rotary leaders have set a fund goal to be reached by May 8.

All proceeds will go to Food for People as they are seeing two to three times the need than they were seeing prior to the spread of coronavirus.

In just two weeks, the Rotary clubs have nearly reached $20,000. With the long history of Rotary clubs supporting food and meal programs, our local clubs and club leaders hope to provide the support that our community needs right now.

Southwest Eureka Rotary is asking community members to join in and financially donate with any amount possible. More information can be found on their website at swrotary.org.
