Man Arrested After Throwing Machete At Neighbor During Dispute

HYDESVILLE, Ca. (KIEM) – A Hydesville man is arrested after a dispute with his neighbor.

Just before 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon Humboldt County was dispatched to the 3400 Block of Harville Lane in Hydesville after a reported physical altercation where one person was tased.

75 year old Richard French allegedly tried to strike the 50 year old male victim with a machete after a dispute about property lines.

The victim drew his concealed firearm and asked French to put down the machete, at which point French reportedly threw the machete at the victim.

A third-party witness then tased French, who stayed on the ground until first responders arrived and transported him to a local hospital.

French was then booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.

His bail is set at $35,000.

The case will be sent to the district attorney’s office for review.
