Eureka P.D. Receives New Badges

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – The Eureka Police officers receive new badges.

You may have noticed the Eureka Police Department officers wearing a new badge commemorating the department’s past as well as its future as we look ahead to EPD’s 125th anniversary in July.

The city of Eureka was founded as a town in 1850 and incorporated as a city in 1874.

Extensive research conducted by EPD’s in-house “historian,” Detective Richard Bise, revealed the style of the new badge is similar to ones worn by Eureka Police officers in the 1940’s.

The design and selection of the badge was a several month collaborative effort by department members.

After months of working on the design, the finished project was officially decided upon in early 2020
