EUREKA, Ca (KIEM) – Yesterday it was Del Norte County and today, another rally in eureka at the courthouse. Residents are again asking for California to open up more than just curbside pick.

Despite Governor Gavin Newsom’s stage two ruling issued for May 8, residents made their way to the Humboldt County Courthouse asking for more. Organizer Dave Franceschi said he didn’t do this for himself, but so his family and his country could have their rights back.

Alongside Franceschi, roughly 60 residents gathered for a third consecutive Friday to protest against the lengthened shelter-in-place ruling.

Aside from asking for freedom, one protestor expressed her concern for local businesses. She is worried about their future if more openings don’t happen soon.

And Totten isn’t the only one who agrees with local businesses needing to open up. Eureka’s 1st District Supervisor Rex Bohn was at the rally and expressed his acknowledgment for people being able to exercise their right to speak. When talking about small businesses he said he thinks it is great that they are receiving support from the community.
