Sheriff Honsal Talks Masking Enforcement, Business Compliance during Stage 2

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — Despite the loosening of shelter in place restrictions, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office continues to enforce the facial covering mandate, and make sure all businesses re-opening are in compliance.

Since the local stay at home order first went to effect, the Joint Information Center has received about 100 complaints and roughly half of those had to do with people not masking. When it comes to businesses re-opening as part of stage 2, there have been a few warnings issued, but no citations have been issued.

The Joint Information Center and Sheriff’s Office acknowledges the dedication of local businesses to not push the envelope and making all the necessary adjustments. According to Sheriff Honsal, facial coverings can provide a sense of comfort for people when venturing outside their homes.

If you see a business not in compliance and would like to report it, you can contact the joint information center tip line at (707) 441-3022.
