Public Health Investigators Use Contact Tracing to Help Slow Down the Spread of Covid-19

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM)- Contact tracing is a factor that the Department of Health and Human Services uses to analyze the current spread of Covid-19 in the county. They use this to understand how it can be transmitted between community members.

If a person is self-quarantining in their homes someone from DHHS will call them every day and check up on them to see how they are doing. if an individual does not have access to food during this time, DHHS will partner with an organization who can deliver food or provide them with supplies like a thermometer.

As it currently stands, DHHS has the authority to provide paperwork for a person to stay home and self quarantine, paperwork they can present to their employer if needed.

The Department has the legal authority to make sure people do not leave their homes. They have not yet had to do this.
