Salads recalled due to possible Cyclospora contamination

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)-Hyvee, chain of supermarkets in the upper Midwest, is expanding its salad recall.

It’s recalling an additional 12 salads across its eight-state region due to the potential that they may be contaminated with Cyclospora, a microscopic parasite.

The 12 salads are in addition to the 12-ounce Hyvee bagged garden salad that it pulled last week.

Store officials say they became aware of the potential for contamination when fresh express, which manufactures the product, announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were expanding their investigation of an outbreak of Cyclospora in the upper Midwest.

Symptoms of Cyclosporiasis may include diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss, cramping, vomiting and low-grade fever.

If you have the recalled products – throw them out or return them to your local Hyvee store for a refund.
