Peaceful protest in Eureka

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – Over the weekend, the Humboldt County Black Music and Arts Association hosted a silent protest at the Eureka Gazebo.

More than 200 community members attended the Black Sovereignty Rights event and approximately 100 participated in the march. Organizers reported that all participants wore masks and social distanced to the best of their ability.

Free masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer were available to participants at a medical station staffed by volunteers. The event featured speakers and performances from community members. Protesters wore all black to stand in solidarity.

The protest promoted Black Sovereignty Rights, calling for justice and change.
