Eureka Police Department unveils second round of crime scene kits

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)- The Eureka Police Department unveiled their second round of crime scene investigation kits earlier today and this one is all about the fingerprints.

Due to Covid-19, the annual crime scene investigation camp for kids will not be happening this year, but the Eureka Police Department still wants provide kids the opportunity to explore crime scene kits from the comfort of their own homes.

The kits are a part of a series created by Evidence Technician Carly Balk.  Today’s kit is comprised of fingerprint patterns.

Inside the fingerprint kit is an ink pad that gives kids the opportunity to roll their very own fingerprints.

Over twenty kits are available for children to pick up. Public Information Officer and Crime Analyst  for the Eureka Police Department Brittany Powell says the kits truly give kids an inside look at what its like to work in law enforcement.

The kits were made possible by donations from McDonalds in Eureka.
