ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM)-Humboldt State University started welcoming students to the residence halls over weekend for move-in day amid covid-19.

More than 220 students moved in Saturday to a drastically new landscape of what campus life will look like.

All students and HSU employees, are being asked to adhere to the HSU social responsibility commitment.

Next week, HSU expects about 800 students to be moved-in and living solo in campus residence halls, that’s less than half the capacity of campus housing, which is a result of HSU’s decision to convert all rooms to single occupancy.

Set aside are 162 spaces for students to be isolated if they become sick.

All students living on campus are expected to self-quarantine for 14 days.

On-campus residents are now required to test frequently while in self-quarantine as of Friday when the change was announced.

Virtual instruction begins august 24th and limited face-to-face instruction starts September 8th.

Most faculty and staff will continue to telecommute either most of the time or entirely.

Details and updates about the fall semester are available by clicking here.

Campus will remain closed to the public.
