Creek Fire in Covelo reaches 100% containment

COVELO, Calif. (KIEM) — The Creek Fire burning in Covelo reaches 100% containment.

According to Cal Fire, as of 7 pm Friday evening the fire has been fully contained. Moving forward, fire crews will continue mopping up and looking for hot spots within containment lines. Fire officials say fire suppression repair and rehabilitation will continue throughout the fire area. 

Two structures were destroyed, but no injuries were reported among residents or firefighters. The vegetation fire first broke out Tuesday afternoon. The cause is under investigation.
