HCSO patrol unit strikes pedestrian, man sustains moderate injuries

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — A Eureka man sustains moderate injuries after being struck by a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit.

Just after 6 am Friday morning, Eureka Police responded to an injury traffic collision at the intersection of 5th and N Streets involving an HCSO patrol car and a pedestrian. The 44-year-old man was located in the road and sustained moderate injuries. He was transported to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment. He is currently in stable condition.

Based on preliminary information, the HCSO unit was traveling eastbound on 5th Street when it struck the pedestrian who was in the roadway.
