FERNDALE, Calif. (KIEM) – Goats took to the track at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds for a virtual event hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods.

The proceeds went toward supporting the organization. The Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods has not been able to host other events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The goat race helped offset some of those losses.

The entire race was live-streamed for viewers while the racers themselves competed at the fairgrounds. Community members could choose their favorite goat to win and enter in a raffle. Eight goats competed for glory and one walked away a champion.

A goat named Ugly Brian cruised his way into the winner’s circle and into the history books as he won the First Annual Wild Goat Race. The Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods hopes to make this a recurring event and looks forward to welcoming race fans at the fairgrounds next year.
