PG&E encourages customers to conserve energy, flex alert issued for Saturday through Monday

HUMBOLDT COUNT, Calif. (KIEM) — PG&E is urging customers to conserve energy over the 3 day Labor Day weekend.

The state’s grid operator has issued a flex alert based on an expected increase in power demand due to high temperatures. Customers are asked to reduce energy use from 3 pm to 9 pm each day. The flex alert officially goes into effect Saturday and will run through Monday.

As of Thursday morning, the California Independent System Operator has given no indication that rotating power outages will be needed this time around. For tips on how to conserve power, you can visit PG&E’s website.
