Public Safety Power Shutoff expected for portions of Humboldt County at midnight

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — Portions of Humboldt County are gearing up for a potential public safety power shutoff event due to high temperatures and fire risks.

Right now, roughly 4,207 customers are expected to lose power beginning at 12 am Tuesday, September 8th. If the power is shut off, power is estimated to be restored by 7 pm on Wednesday, September 9th. Dates, times, and locations of outages are subject to change.

The Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services has released a list of communities likely to be affected. Alder Point, Blocksburg, Blue Lake, Bridgeville, Carlotta, Dinsmore, and Fort Seward are expected to be affected. Garberville, Hoopa, Kneeland, Korbell, Myers Flat, Orleans, Weitchpec, and Willow Creek are included in that list as well. Arcata and Eureka may be impacted, but PG&E says less than 20 customers will lose power in these areas.
