EPD investigating armed robbery at local check cashing business

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — The Eureka Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that happened at a local check cashing business.

EPD responded to the business on the 1100 block of 5th Street. The victim told officers an unknown male forced his way into the business while brandishing a firearm. Then the suspect reportedly told the employee to go to the rear of the business while the suspect stole from the cash register.The suspect then fled on foot with the till and cash. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as about 5’10, 185 pounds, and was wearing a mask, hooded sweatshirt, jeans, white shoes, gloves, a backpack and was in possession of a handgun.
