Dr. Frankovich offers suggestions for modified Halloween celebrations

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – Halloween is right around the corner, but what will the holiday look like during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Dr. Teresa Frankovich said door-to-door trick-or-treating across multiple households does not seem like a good idea. The county is reaching out to local businesses and communities to try and find a way to offer safer and more structured options. Frankovich suggested ways to keep up the Halloween spirit including in-home trick-or-treating and scavenger hunts. She also suggested eating at restaurants decorated for the occasion.

“As we get closer to the holiday we’ll offer some suggestions for families, but I think it is up to all of us to get creative about how can we minimize mixing and still sort of embrace the idea and some of the fun of the holiday,” Frankovich said.
