PG&E to provide funding for wildfire risk reduction

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – PG&E is teaming up with California Fire Safe Councils as they provide funding to help reduce wildfire risk and north coast counties will receive over $200,000 of the funding.

The goal is to enhance the safety and preparedness of local communities in connection with the 2020 wildfire season.

PG&E will provide $2.3 million to fund organization projects across 28 counties to reduce the threat of wildfires and $220,000 of those dollars will go to Fire Safe Councils in Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity Counties.

In addition to the funding, PG&E is preparing for wildfires through its Community Wildfire Safety Program as a precautionary measure to reduce wildfire threats and strengthen communities for the future.
