HSU Men’s Rugby earns national ranking

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) – The Humboldt State University Men’s Rugby Team made national headlines this week. The latest National Collegiate Rugby Poll ranked HSU seventh in the nation.

Loyola Marymount University took the top spot. Santa Rosa Junior College and HSU are the only two teams from the Northern California Collegiate Conference to earn a Top 20 ranking. SRJC was ranked fifteenth.

HSU finished the last three years with a Sweet 16 and two Elite 8 finishes. The team is made up of 32 students who are all from California. They had a 4-1 record and sat in first place before competition stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
