Eureka Police investigating traffic collision, vandalism at Breonna Taylor demonstration

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — Fall-out from Thurday night’s Breonna Taylor demonstration in downtown Eureka.  About 60 people took part in the protest outside the Humboldt County courthouse. The group marched down 4th and 5th Streets mainly, but their route also took them onto other streets in the area.

The Eureka Police Department reports 2 misdemeanor spray paint vandalisms to businesses, and 2 vehicles were also damaged by demonstrators. Shortly after 7:30, police say while demonstrators were blocking traffic at 5th and I Streets a vehicle ran into a female protestor. Medical care was provided on scene, but the extent of her injuries is unknown.

Eureka Police say the woman may have placed herself in the path of the vehicle. Both the collision and vandalisms are active investigations.
