Equity Arcata gives free food and stuff for students

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM)- Home Away From Home, a group with Equity Arcata, gave out free food and household supplies for students earlier today.

The group packed paper bags with hygiene products, cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer and voter registration information for Humboldt State and College of the Redwood students. 

Even though Equity Arcata had to postpone other events, they felt that this event was very important. 

Catarina Gallardo, Communication working group chair for Equity Arcata, said that they are the bridge between the community and the students and just want to let the students know that the community is there for them.  

“So, as a working group really we’re here to build that bridge and let students know we appreciate them and we’re here to support them in their education,” said Gallardo.
