Humboldt Waste Management Authority discontinues CRV buyback services

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — The Humboldt Waste Management Authority announces that CRV buyback services have been discontinued, and there’s no word on when they’ll be coming back.

With the recent closure of the CRV redemption centers in Fortuna, McKinleyville, and Redway, the Eureka Recycling Center doesn’t have the physical capacity to manager services for the entire county. HWMA requested CRV be done by appointment only to manage the increase in customers, but CalRecycle said appointments are not allowed so HWMA submitted its notice of decertification.

The recycling center has also resumed drop off services 7 days a week and at the hazardous waste facility 6 days a week.
