Produce distribution reschedule for Thursday, changed to Oct. 22; Open to everyone in need

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)-This month’s Food for People’s Eureka drive-thru produce distribution at the Bayshore Mall has been changed – due to shipping logistic issues.

It was previously scheduled for Thursday, but now will be held Thursday, October 22, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the north parking lot.

Development Director Carly Robbins with Food for People says, the process will be a safe, and should move quickly.

“We still want everyone to know they can come out, it’s a free drive through distribution so it’s really quick,” she said.  “We’ll have volunteers load food directly into cars for people and it’s really good high quality produce.”

Masks are required for all distributions and those who attend are asked to observe six foot social distancing.

Participants are asked to make room in their vehicles to allow volunteer workers to quickly load the produce.

The event is open to anyone in need of food.

“We waived the intake process for COVID and the pandemic so this is for anyone who is hurting a little bit right now,” she said.

The free produce markets in Redway, Garberville and Fortuna will proceed as scheduled.
