Humboldt County, Calif. (KIEM)-The August Complex Fire has burned 1,032,597 acres and has reached 92% containment.

The fires within the complex started on both the 16th and 17th of August.

For the safety of firefighters and visitors to the National Forests in the Pacific Southwest Region, fire restrictions have been extended through October 30th.

The U-S Forest Service says, it’s to prevent further fires from being started and overtaxing the resources of those fighting existing wildfires.

Crews worked over-night along the Ruth Lake Corridor–checking areas around structures and watching for flare-ups.

A group of more than 40 firefighters are working to repair and protect the watershed in Ruth Lake.

Crews will continue to monitor, patrol and improve fire lines.

Only 8% of the fire perimeter remains uncontrolled.
