DEL NORTE COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – Just like Humboldt County law officials – violence, voter intimidation or any type chaos when the official count comes in – is not expected in Del Norte.

Redwood News spoke to Crescent City’s Police Chief and Del Norte County’s Sheriff Tuesday.

“Am I concerned, no, not in this area, were pretty civil as the way we can get along with people,” said Crescent City Police Department’s Chief Richard Griffin. “We’ve shown that before, when the riots were going on, the way we responded in Del Norte County and Crescent City specifically. That doesn’t mean were not taking precautions.”

Sheriff Erik Apperson says, they too are prepared.

“This is a very emotional time for a lot of people, definitely politically charged, I’ve noticed a lot of are taking on a more of an active role, that said, we have made some small adjustments to our operations,” he said. “I’ve not seen any indications that we have anything to worry about here. I think that people have nothing to worry about but we are prepared.

Both Apperson and Griffin say, they will remain on alert – and urged anyone who sees something to day something.
