HSU Department of Athletics Sports Auction raises thousands

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) – Humboldt State University Athletics held the annual department auction virtually this year.

The online event was held October 21 through October 24. HSU was forced to adapt due to the pandemic, but the 35th annual auction saw success. It raised $30,995 as of November 6. Athletics Director Jane Teixeira said the virtual format provided the opportunity to still support athletes without the traditional event.

“HSU is surrounded by so many individuals who support its mission”, Teixeira said. “Athletics is an integral part of student success and we are very grateful for all who took part in this unique sports auction. The funds raised will continue to provide scholarships opportunities to current and future Lumberjacks.”

HSU hopes the event will be held in-person next year.
