Tribal officials promote safe COVID-19 practices amid holiday season

KLAMATH, Calif. (KIEM)-With the recent spike in COVID-19 cases during the holidays. Yurok officials are encouraging their community to celebrate while keeping in line with county and state COVID-19 guidelines.

YUROK officials urge their community members to consider staying home for the holidays and opt for a virtual way to connect with loved ones outside of their household.

Doing this will lower the risk of exposure to the virus according to the Yurok Tribe.

They also advise against gatherings that include anyone outside of your household, as large gatherings could lead to the spread of COVID-19.

Avoid non-essential travel as crowded airports increase the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

Yurok citizens in need of assistance are encouraged to contact the Yurok Tribe’s COVID-19 hotline at covid-19 hotline: 1-888-225-8952.

Free COVID-19 testing is still available for Yurok residents through December.
