10th Humboldt County resident dies with Covid-19, 26 new cases reported Wednesday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Public Health Department reports a 10th county resident has died from Covid-19. The resident was in their 80’s and tested positive at the time of their death.

The Public Health Department has also confirmed 26 new cases of Covid-19. This brings the total number of positive Covid-19 cases to 1,163 with health officials monitoring 272 active cases.

Of the total cases, 40% contracted the virus through contact with a known case, about 15% are travel related, and 7% a result of community transmission. Just over 37% of cases are still under investigation.

One more hospitalization was also reported. On a more encouraging note, 7 more recoveries were also reported bringing that number to 881.
