EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)-It may look a little different this year – but that has not stopped local non-profits from providing free Christmas meals for those in need.

All meals will be either to-go or drive-thru style, at the following locations:

Humboldt Center Area for Harm Reduction (HACHER) will serve a meal on December 24, Christmas Eve starting at 11 a.m., at 1522 3rd Street in Eureka, which will be first come, first served, and will be given a hot meal.

River Life Foundation will hold their annual free Christmas meal on Christmas Day from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the Fortuna Veterans Hall located at 1426 Main Street in Fortuna, which will include roast beef, turkey, scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole a roll and Christmas cookies.

Delivery is available to residents within the City of Fortuna, call Ginny at (707) 601-6526 by 1 p.m. on Christmas day to arrange delivery.

St. Vincent de Paul on will serve their meal on Christmas Day at 35 W. 3rd Street in Eureka, beginning at 11 a.m. with a possible visit from the Jolly Saint Nick himself.

The Betty Kwan Chinn Foundation has already distributed 300 food boxes this week- and will offer a prime rib dinner on Christmas day – those in need, can call (707) 407-3833 by noon on December 25.

The founder Betty Kwan Chinn Foundation says, the event would not be possible without the help of community and fellow non-profit organizations.

“All this happen because all the community, all the people get involved and are willing to help, I had church and businesses come to help and made this possible, and again, I have outstanding staff that helped me out too,” she said.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 has put a halt on food deliveries this year, said Chinn.
