FORTUNA, Calif. (KIEM)- Centro Del Pueblo was out in Fortuna earlier today giving care packages to Hispanic and immigrant families in need.

Cars were lined up outside of El Buen Gusto Market in Fortuna to receive a Centro Del Pueblo care package.

The boxes came with fruits, vegetables, tortillas, hygiene products, face masks, a blanket, information about resources available for the Hispanic and immigrant community and a lot of love.

“It’s a box that is filled with a lot of love,” said Adan Perez, a member of Centro Del Pueblo. “The purpose of these boxes are to spread love to Hispanic people, non-Hispanic people and to everyone that is here.”

Brenda Perez, a member of Centro Del Pueblo, says that many Hispanic families aren’t able to take advantage of certain resources because of the language barrier and sometimes even pride, but Perez wants to let everyone know that Centro Del Pueblo is here to help and support their community.

“I just want to let everyone know, not to be embarrassed,” said Brenda Perez. “We do a lot for our community and it doesn’t matter that its cold, it feels good to see and help everyone.”

The organization said that it will hold another care package event on the last Saturday of February and if you want more information about the events you visit them on Facebook here.
