A new tax scam is targeting Humboldt County Residents

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – The Humboldt County Treasurer and Tax Collector’s Office is warning everyone about a scam that is going around.

It involves getting a warrant of distraint from the County’s Tax Processing Unit and telling you to call a toll-free number.

If you receive one of these letters in the mail- do not respond. It is a scam, and officials say that they do not issue these kinds of warrants.
